LOCALE: Bynum was named for the Stephen Bynum Family, early settlers in the region. Bynum today includes a one-room country school, a bar, a post office and a collection of homes.

The small town of Choteau is 22 miles to the southeast. Choteau is the county seat of Teton County and has a population of 1700 people. The town was named after Pierre Choteau, President of the American Fur Company, who brought the first steamboat up the Missouri.
