HISTORY: The Little Belt Mountain Properties are patented mining claims.
Paris Gibson and his brother patented most of this land in and around 1915. Paris Gibson, a Minneapolis
city planner and engineer recognized the potential of the Great Falls area and its abundant resources
and central location. Gibson became the city's first developer of Great Falls.
During the early 1900's this area of the Little Belt Mountains was teaming with
activity searching for mineral deposits. The primary ore these mining claims were patented for
was their iron ore.
LOCATION: These unique recreation properties are situated 75 to 80 miles southeast of Great Falls, Montana. Lewistown, Montana is approximately 65 miles to the east. The town of Stanford is approximately 20 miles northeast of the Little Belt Mountain Properties.
Stanford is the county seat of Judith Basin County and has a population of approximately 500 residents. Stanford boasts a small bank, medical services, grocery stores, schools, restaurants, gas stations and part stores.
The Little Belt Mountain Properties are reached via County and Forest Service roads going southwest from Stanford.
ACREAGE: The Little Belt Mountain Properties comprises a total of approximately 174.62 acres and is being offered for sale in eight separate tracts. The following is a brief description of each tract:
Tract #1 Through Tract #6
Tract #1 through Tract #6 are all adjoining properties that comprise a narrow strip of private land that runs east to west for approximately two miles, completely surrounded by Forest Service Land. The topography of these different tracts is mountainous terrain having northern to northeastern and northwestern slopes and broken by draws and ravines. Elevation varies from 5960 feet to 6760 feet. Each of these tracts is timbered with fir and pine trees.
The property is 20 miles southwest of Stanford, Montana and accessed via a county road with the last 2½ miles an improved Forest Service road #3348 that brings you to Tract #6. From Tract #6 dirt roads access each tract listed for sale. Each tract has a road to the property and offers a great building site with breathtaking panoramic views. The following is a breakdown of the different tracts and acreage:

The following is a brief description of each of the tracts:
Tracts #1 & #2 are very exclusive at the end of the road and situated one-half mile behind a locked gate. The Forest Service and the owner of this property are the only people having keys to this gate. Tract #1 has a good spring that may be developed for domestic water for a cabin site. These two tracts purchased together would provide the unlimited privacy and seclusion. These lots also offer outstanding panoramic scenic views and thousands of acres of National Forest Service land out your back door. Tract #3 is also situated behind its own locked gate that the Forest Service and the owner of this property have a key to. The middle to the lot is the high point of the property and the best building site to take advantage of the spectacular Charlie Russell views it has to offer.
This tract called Crystal Springs has a view building site on the southern portion of the property. The majority of the property is a timbered northwestern sloped mountainous terrain.
These two tracts are readily accessible off the Forest Service road #3348 and each tract is timbered and offers several good building sites.
Ttract # 7: Ada & Cascade
These two patented mining claims comprise 41.51 acres and it is estimated that this acreage is approximately 20 miles southwest of Stanford. This acreage is accessed via Forest Service road #264, called the Running Wolf Creek Road for approximately 3 miles and then exiting north onto a unimproved road for the last quarter mile to the property.
This property is primarily a southern to southwestern exposure and is timbered primarily with Ponderosa Pine. Along the drainage bottom of this property some huge Ponderosa Pine trees are found. This property offers some great building site with views.
Red Oxide is a total of 20 acres that is approximately 23 miles southwest of Stanford. The last ½ mile to the property is a very steep overgrown trail. Access across the last ½ mile would be either by hiking or horseback.
The terrain of this acreage is part of a large
level bench that is approximately 3 ½ miles long and predominately
timbered. The elevation varies from 6540 feet to 6640 feet.
There is lots of elk sign along this ridge top and this tract
would make and ideal hunting camp.
